GROW Summer 2016 takes place in 10 Romanian cities, where the magic is delivered by a happy organizing team, headed by a Local Project Manager (LPM). Today we present you Alina, the GROWzav LPM from Bucharest!
Hello! My name is Alina and I am the Local Project Manager for GROW Summer 2016 Bucharest. I don’t really like to talk about myself. I think actions are louder than words. If I have to describe myself all I can say is that I am a quiet and shy person, but if you see me when I am with my friends and people I love, you wouldn’t guess that. I consider myself an ambitious, hardworking and a bit of a control freak.
I enjoy helping those around me, not only to develop themselves but also helping them see the fun part of life, the little things that maybe others don’t pay attention to. I gain my energy from music and reading. My favourite books are Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams.
I know about GROW since summer 2010. At that time, I was in AIESEC Constanta and I was on the organising team of another project, so I didn’t pay much attention to GROW 😀 Fast forward a year later and I became the Coach for the organising team of GROW and that was the moment I finally understood what the project was about and how it changed the life of the participants and the international volunteers.
Now fast forward again a few years. I came to work for Scoala de Valori for another project and here I encountered GROW. Education has always been an important issue for me and this project is one of the best ways for a teen to develop himself, to gain confidence and skills that will help him throughout out all of his life.
My message for the GROW participants:
Don’t be afraid to be yourself! We live in a wonderful world, full of amazing people and opportunities, you just have to open your eyes and look at the world around you from a different perspective. Travel and be curious!
