In every city where GROW takes place, we have a local team that implements the project, led by a coordinator (OCP). We are preparing a new GROW edition, so let’s meet the local coordinators! We’ve asked them about their personality, their high school years and how they would change the educational system. Today we present you Irina.

Irina - SuceavaFor those who don’t know me I can tell that I am addicted to sweets, I would like to travel around the world and I like to think about me that I am a very ambitious person and sometime funny… I am an International in Romania, for 8 years already.

When I came for the first time in Romania at the beginning of high school and I walked for the first time in my class, I was afraid that my colleagues will not accept me as one of their own, and my weird accent was not supporting me in that situation. Instead I got the most extraordinary colleagues and friends, and the best memories with them. This experience taught me that people are not always what they seem, and when you  get to know them better you can find an amazing friend.

If I were a country I’d have liked to be England because first of all I love English and that British accent is simply fascinating for me, and secondly this country is a whole mystery with all its legends and countless castles.

I think that we shouldn’t change the educational system, we only have to take what we need, from what it has to offer. Education is coming from our family, from our childhood and what we have learned starting with kindergarten until university just helps us to build a personality.
